An unfixed 'boy' cat sprays indoors to tell other males and females that are in heat where he is. The smell stinks to high heaven, is oily, and is difficult to eradicate off of wood floors, drywall AND fabric furniture. It's the reason so many 'boy' cats are dumped at shelters. Once they start to spray they will not stop the behavior.

"Tabby" is a coat color it's not a breed, there is no breeder of Tabby'. It's an extremely common coat color as well. If you're not willing to adopt from a shelter -- who ALSO provides a microchip, all the vaccinations and a checkup in the fee they charge -- then check Craig's List in the pet section, or go to Animal Control and adopt.

What 'breeders' are you talking about? Legit breeders have a breed - like Siamese or Abysinnian - and they have the kittens 'sold' before the female is bred. They don't breed constantly (only once eveyr two years usually) so no kittens are being produced that don't already have homes planned for.

Reading your PS, your attitude about shelter cats is way off. These cats were taken from their homes, dumped in a strange place, and have strangers constantly going by as well as dog barking constantly all day. This is not the environment to showcase any cat's personality. You're sounding more and more like someone who has never had a pet before. If this is true, be aware that owning one means you're going to be cleaning up fur, occasional vomit, missed litter box accidents, and all the other not so great things invloved in owning an animal.

i respect your opinion.. but all the other comments involving that millions of kittens are putted down everyday in shelters is true.. :$ yes, most of em aren't pure breed cat.. they're mixed cat but seriously , i think that Shelter's kitts are cuter and nicer than the other pure breeded cats... :$
i got my kitty from my friend (her cat was prego.. ) and her cat is a siamese and my kitten's dad is a kinda random wild tabby cat 0.o
he's a mixed cat but that's what makes him look cuter <3 and seriously.. getting a kitten from a Shelter is so much better than getting it from a breeder :$ at least you can tell yourself "damn , i saved that kitten !"

Tabby is not a breed of cat. NO reputable breeds breeds domestics on purpose. Tabby cats (pattern) is found on both purebred and mixes.

Sorry can't help you cause I don't believe in allowing domestics to remain as entire cats - they should be spayed/neutered if you are a responsible owner.

Sorry tabbie is not a breed of cat. Do some reserch on the type of cat you want, one that includes the tabbie markings as one of the accepted standardes. And then look for a breeder club for that breed. It will be easer to find the kittie you want if you know the breed your looking for.

It scares me that you think there are breeders specializing in mutts w certain coat patterns. Also, if a pattern is all you are interested in and you are leaving the cat intact... I'm not a psychic but I'm guessing that in 8 mos that poor kitty will be in a shelter. I have two cats, most expensive breed in the world right now Savannahs but first thing I did was get them fixed. Nothing wrong with purchasing a specific breed but if you're not a breeder get the lil guy fixed! Remember this is about a 15 year commitment and if you do not fix he'll be pissing everywhere after 6 mos. If you plan to keep him outside you are condeming many little kittens to a shelter. Do the cats in the world a favor get a plush tabby, they're cute and when you're done playing you can put him away in a toy box....and oh lots of colors to choose from.

P.S. About your comments on shelter kitten behavior. The shelter kittens personality does not differ from any other kitten. They are live animals, each with their own personality, and they need time to adjust to you and bond..... A kitten that's scarred to be handled by you at a shelter in two weeks maybe so attached to you it will follow you around the house as if on a leash.

"Tabby" is not a breed, it's a coat pattern. There are no breeders of coat patterns.

I respect your opinion, but unless you can keep this cat in 24/7 (as you should, anyway) it WILL get out and it WILL breed -- adding more kittens to the millions already put down in shelters.

Also - there is no way you want to live with an intact cat. Trust me. Females go into heat and it's almost painful (not to mention annoying) to watch them "present" and yowl...I have gone through it once and that's more than enough. As for males, they WILL spray all over your house (as will females) and it is downright *impossible* to get that smell out -- and it's a very strong, very awful smell.

There is nothing wrong with spaying/neutering - in fact, the cat won't even know it's done.
